Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose will play on Wednesday against the Orlando Magic after missing the previous five games due to a hip injury.

The Pistons will bring Rose off the bench against Orlando. The former MVP will be on a minutes restriction as well.

Rose dropped out of the NBA’s Skills Challenge because of his adductor strain. He's averaging 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 44 games for the Pistons this season, all while shooting 49.8 percent from the field, 31.5 percent from beyond the arc and 85.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Given his injury history, the Pistons will surely play it safe with Rose for the rest of the season. The 31-year-old veteran playmaker has undergone four knee surgeries, one eye procedure and one elbow surgery since winning his MVP award with the Chicago Bulls back in 2011.

Rose received trade interest from a few playoff teams at the deadline, but the Pistons were only going to move him if they got a first-round pick in return. In the post-Andre Drummond era, it appears Detroit likes having Rose on the team since he's a solid veteran and the young guys on the team enjoy playing with him.

Derrick Rose has career averages of 18.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists.
