The Detroit Pistons have plans to build an Isiah Thomas statue outside their arena, according to Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press:

Isiah Thomas is one of the best point guards in NBA history and arguably the top player in Pistons franchise history.

Thomas won two championships with the Pistons and was the 1990 Finals MVP. The Chicago native, who spent his entire career with the Pistons, finished his career as a 12-time All-Star and was inducted into the Hall of Fame back in 2000.

In 979 games with Detroit, Thomas averaged 19.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 9.3 assists. He shot 45.2 percent from the field, 29.0 percent from beyond the arc and 75.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Thomas ranks eighth all-time in assists, racking up 9,061 assists during his legendary career.

The Pistons have a fancy new stadium in downtown Detroit called Little Caesars Arena, which opened in 2017. Putting a Thomas statue outside the arena would be a great tribute to Zeke. After all, he did bring two titles to Detroit during a time when the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics were dominating the NBA.

The current Pistons made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2016. The team will try to win a playoff series this season.
