Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey expects big seasons from center Andre Drummond and point guard Reggie Jackson in 2019-20.

Both players are in contract years and NBA players always seem to play with a chip on their shoulder during contract seasons.

“I think we're gonna get a great season out of Reggie Jackson, a great year out of Andre Drummond,” Casey said. “Big year for them in their contract year. Andre's been working his behind off in Vegas, dropped weight. He's in great condition.”

Drummond will make $27.1 million next season and has a player option worth $28.8 million for the 2020-21 campaign. All signs point toward the Pistons big man declining that player option so he can make more money on the open market.

Last season, Drummond averaged 17.3 points and 15.6 rebounds for the Pistons while shooting 53.3 percent from the field. He recorded 69 double-doubles and helped Detroit make the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Jackson, meanwhile, will earn $18.1 million next season and become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2020. He put up 15.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 2018-19.

The Pistons got swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the 2019 playoffs. Detroit added Derrick Rose, Markieff Morris and Tony Snell to the roster this summer, so it should be able to make the postseason again in 2019-20 assuming Blake Griffin and Drummond can stay healthy.
