The Detroit Pistons laid an egg on Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets, and head coach Dwane Casey is taking the blame for his team's lackluster effort.

Dwane Casey described the effort from the Pistons in a unique way.

“Our give-a-crap level was very low,” Casey told the Associated Press, via ESPN. “For a very important game like tonight, when you are a winner you come out and take this game and come ready to fight. I'll take the blame for it. I didn't get our team ready enough to come out and compete and fight.”

The Pistons came out flat against a team they are going to be battling for playoff positioning. This should have been a game that Detroit was ready to play, but that was not the case.

The Pistons are floundering at the moment. After starting the year 13-7, Detroit looked like they could challenge for a first-round playoff series at home. However, they have lost eight of their last 10 since then and dropped all the way to seventh in the Eastern Conference.

There's a chance that Detroit falls out of the playoff picture entirely if Casey can't figure out how to right the ship. The Eastern Conference is better than most predicted it would be, and upstart teams like the Brooklyn Nets and Orlando Magic could sneak into the playoffs at the expense of Detroit.

There is still a lot of time for Casey and the Pistons to right get things right, but they can't continue to put forth listless efforts like they did in Charlotte.
