The Detroit Pistons have gotten back on track by winning five of their last six games after a disastrous 0-7 start to the month of December. Among their recent notable performances has been the strong play of point guard Ish Smith coming off the bench.

The journeyman has settled in nicely as of late with the Pistons since coming over prior to the 2016-17 NBA season. Although Smith has been all over the map in his seven-year career, one thing that has not changed is his blazing speed. According to Jake Chapman of The Pistons Podcast, Smith has been recorded as the NBA's fastest player since they started officially keeping the stat.

Ish Smith's nod as the fastest man in the league should not come as a revelation since he has long been praised for his quickness on the floor. He is even faster on offense with an average speed of 5.67 mph.

Aside from Smith, the Pistons have pieced together an explosive roster overall. Only teammate Henry Ellenson comes close to the veteran point guard's average offensive speed at 5.66 mph.

Needless to say, Detroit has followed up on head coach Stan Van Gundy's wishes to pick up the tempo this year. Although their style of play still has yet to produce any significant results, the Pistons have largely made it work by grinding their way back into the thick of the Eastern Conference.
