Jerami Grant has missed over a month of the season after injuring his thumb and heading into the NBA's health and safety protocols. The Detroit Pistons' leading scorer will soon team up with stud rookie Cade Cunningham again, though he could also be traded. Regardless of which direction Grant heads in, getting him back on the court is beneficial for Detroit.

Last week, the Pistons assigned Grant to their G League team, the Motor City Cruise, as he begins to get back into the swing of things. He was placed in health and safety protocols just a few days later. Head coach Dwane Casey told reporters that Grant has now cleared protocols and is back at practice.

Grant is set to come back at a time when he is one of the hottest commodities on the trade market. In 24 games this season, he is averaging 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists. The Pistons could add more young assets or draft picks as they look to rebuild by trading away the 27-year-old forward. His scoring and versatile defensive abilities would work with just about any contending team.

Of course, keeping Grant offers Cunningham serious support on both sides of the ball that no other Pistons player can. Although the bidding war is growing and could be feverish when the February 10 trade deadline approaches, Detroit could opt to keep him for now and possibly trade him this offseason.

Whether Grant plays for the Pistons for the rest of the season, just for a few more weeks, or never again, he will have plenty of interest once he returns.
