The Detroit Pistons are pressed for time finding additional firepower off the bench after losing Jon Leuer to an injury. This added concerns to the lineup which features oft-injured Blake Griffin and Reggie Jackson.

According to a Twitter post by Keith Langlois, Leuer's status remains up in the air as the preseason nears:

Leuer is expected to bring rest minutes for Pistons' big men Andre Drummond and Blake Griffin. The team does not appear to be concerned about the injury and expects the backup center to rehabilitate immediately. The training camp will not start until late September. Until then, his health status remains uncertain.

If he heals slowly, Henry Ellenson and offseason signee Zaza Pachulia are expected to take up his minutes. Leuer has been sidelined last year due to a left ankle injury which required surgery. He averaged 5.4 points and 4 rebounds in 8 games last year for Detroit.

The team ushers in a new era under new coach Dwane Casey, who won 2018 Coach of the Year while handling the Toronto Raptors last season. Aside from Pachulia, the Pistons also added  Glenn Robinson III and Jose Calderon in the roster.

Jon Leuer signed a 4-year contract with the Pistons in 2016 worth $42 million. A string of injuries has prevented the 29-year-old big man from showcasing what he can do on the floor.
