Markieff Morris has agreed to a contract buyout with the Detroit Pistons, according to The Athletic.

Morris is now eligible to sign with a playoff team since his buyout happened before March 1:

Morris appeared in 44 games for the Pistons this season. He averaged 11.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 45.0 percent from the field, 39.7 percent from beyond the arc and 77.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Morris signed a two-year, $6.5 million contract with the Pistons in free agency this past summer. He split time with the Washington Wizards and Oklahoma City Thunder last season.

In 2018-19, Morris averaged 9.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists while shooting 42.1 percent from the field, 33.5 percent from beyond the arc and 77.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Morris' brother, Marcus Morris, got traded from the New York Knicks to the Los Angeles Clippers at the trade deadline. We'll see if Markieff joins the other club in LA now, the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are reportedly a favorite to sign him.

Markieff has career NBA averages of 11.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 623 NBA games.
