Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson will miss Monday night's matchup with the Indiana Pacers with a back injury.

Per The Athletic's James Edwards III on Twitter, head coach Dwane Casey has not revealed who will start at point guard for the Pistons in Jackson's stead yet.

Jackson previously missed the Pistons' home loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday with the nagging back ailment and before today was doubtful for the Pacers contest. Former undrafted free agent Tim Frazier started for Detroit in the defeat, which brought the Motor City franchise's record to 1-2 after the 2019-20 NBA season's first week of play.

Frazier scored six points on six shots and dished out four assists on Saturday, playing in 21 minutes. However, the real star for the Pistons on the loss was former MVP Derrick Rose, who signed a two-year deal in the offseason with the club. Coming off a one-plus-year stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the three-time All-Star point guard led Detroit in scoring coming off the bench in the loss, putting up 31 points in 26 minutes along with racking up three assists and three steals. Rose is a candidate to start in Jackson's place.

With star power forward Blake Griffin missing time with a hamstring injury, along with knee soreness, the Pistons could use an early boost in the scoring and playmaking department from the proven Rose.

Several games into the 2019-20 season, the Pacers are demonstrating another year of slow, methodical basketball. They are the sixth-slowest team in the league so far and are the 11th-worst in offensive efficiency. It would behoove Detroit to amp up the pace and bludgeon Indiana on Monday with quick transition buckets.
