Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson has only played in two games this season due to a back injury.

Pistons head coach Dwane Casey told reporters in Boston on Friday that Jackson will likely be re-evaluated by doctors for a potential return after Christmas:

Jackson played in all 82 games last season for the Pistons. He put up 15.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game while shooting 42.1 percent overall, 36.9 percent from the 3-point line and 86.4 percent from the charity stripe.

Jackson is making $18.1 million this season. He will enter unrestricted free agency next summer.

The Pistons are just 11-17 on the season, which is good for 10th place in the Eastern Conference. Although Detroit is only one game out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the East, the Pistons have done nothing this season to prove they are worthy of a postseason spot.

Blake Griffin has been a shell of himself after undergoing left knee surgery this past summer. As a result, the Pistons have yet to win three games in a row this season.

Some pundits believe the Pistons just need to tear the roster down and embark on a rebuild. Like Jackson, Andre Drummond can enter unrestricted free agency next summer if he declines his 2020-21 player option with Detroit.
