Detroit Pistons forward/center Willie Reed has been suspended for six games by the league office, stemming from a domestic violence incident from Aug. 5, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical. The incident involved his wife, according to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports.

Reed had entered into pretrial diversion program to resolve misdemeanor charge against him, according to David Aldridge of NBA.com.

The 6-foot-11 big man has only played nine combined minutes through three games with the Pistons after being part of the package that sent Blake Griffin to the Motor City.

The St. Louis product is in his fourth team and his third season, after successful stints with the Brooklyn Nets and the Miami Heat, ending up with the L.A. Clippers at the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

The NBA has done its best to crack down on any violence incidents, administering punishment accordingly once facts are brought to their knowledge.

According to ESPN Insider Bobby Marks, the new collective bargaining agreement has a strong domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault policy — one which would allow commissioner Adam Silver to hand down a suspension if an act has occurred.

Reed has played in 42 games between the Pistons and Clippers, starting five of them, posting averages of 4.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. He proved himself a capable rebounder as a replacement for Hassan Whiteside last season.

He will be available to play again on Sunday, Feb. 25, when the Pistons take on the Charlotte Hornets on the road.
