With the 2021 NBA Draft looming closer, the Detroit Pistons hold the No. 1 overall pick. Ever since it was announced at the draft lottery that it would be Detroit selecting first, it's almost seemed like a foregone conclusion that they would be taking Cade Cunningham, the sensational freshman guard out of Oklahoma State.

Now, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, there may be more of a decision than what was initially thought for the Pistons.

The interesting lair, of course, is trying to figure out what is a smoke screen and what isn't when it comes to all these reports. Woj is as good as it gets and there's no doubt he's reporting what he is being told. But does anyone really believe the Pistons will keep the No. 1 pick and not take Cunningham?

Perhaps this is a way for the Pistons to get more phone calls from other teams who could offer to send a boatload of picks and potential players for the chance to draft Cunningham at No. 1. If that doesn't happen, it's hard to imagine Detroit staying put and not take the Oklahoma State product.

Many are high on the other two prospects mentioned, Jalen Green and Evan Mobley and rightfully so. Both have star potential at the next level.

Most believed the real party would begin with the Rockets selecting at No. 2 or the Cavaliers at No. 3. Now, that idea might have to be backpedaled on since it appears the Pistons aren't fully locked in on taking Cade Cunningham.
