The Detroit Pistons are currently searching for their next head coach. Sources say that they are eyeing Dwane Casey and John Beilein.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Pistons front office has already met with the two candidates:

To recall, the Pistons parted ways with Stan Van Gundy last month. He was released from his duties both as head coach and president of basketball operations. Van Gundy spent four seasons with the Pistons, leading them to the playoffs in the 2015-2016 season.

Belein is currently the head coach for the University of Michigan — a team he has helmed for the past 11 years. Among his many accomplishments are two Final Four appearances, two Big Ten titles in 2012 2014, and the Big Ten Tournament in 2017 and 2018. He holds a 248-143 win-loss record as Michigan head coach.

Casey, meanwhile, was recently fired by the Toronto Raptors after getting swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round. In seven years with the Raptors, Casey led the team to multiple playoff appearances. Last season, the Raptors were the top-seeded team in the East.

After being let go by the Raptors, Casey simply said that his team did not play well at the right moment, at the right time:

“We have continued to get better,” Casey said. “We just didn't play well this season at the right time. It's tough to simply say [as a team], ‘Well, we're not good enough together.'”
