The New York Knicks have vested interest in Andre Drummond, but rumor has it that they haven't placed an offer that would please the Detroit Pistons.

The aforementioned offer did not reveal any specifics. However, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Pistons want a first-round pick in exchange for Drummond. Woj furthered that no “real market” exists for Drummond right now.

While there's no doubt that Drummond is extremely talented and can help a contender, his contract may be a hindrance from getting any deal done. The 26-year-old is in the final guaranteed season of a five-year, $127.2 million contract with the Pistons, and NBA teams expect him to opt out of his player option and become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

As such, in the event that the Knicks or any other team seal a trade for Drummond, there's still no guarantee that the league's leading rebounder will commit to them long term. This is a risk for both rebuilding teams or those contending for the title.

Drummond himself, however, wants to remain with the Pistons until he retires.

“I'm not a quitter, for one,” Andre Drummond said, per Nick Fridell of ESPN. “I was never brought up to be a quitter. If I start somewhere, I try to finish there, try to complete the mission, which is to win a championship here. It will never be me that wants to go anywhere … I love being here. I would love to play here the rest of my career.”

As all NBA fans know, however, things can get crazy when the trade deadline approaches.
