With trade rumors heating up, the Detroit Pistons remained adamant about their desires to keep Jerami Grant on their team for the remainder of the season. They reportedly turned down blockbuster packages that involve multiple first-round assets in hopes of grooming Grant as their star player for the foreseeable future.

Via James Edwards of The Athletic:

“Several teams around the league have inquired about Grant, who is in the midst of a breakout season, and Detroit has shown no interest in trading him, per sources. Grant was the centerpiece of Weaver’s offseason and is someone he has a longstanding relationship with. The franchise views him as a pillar of what they’re building, and it would take a sizable haul for the Pistons to reroute their plan. Detroit has received offers involving “multiple first-round picks,” per sources, but it is unclear if any of those picks fall within the top 10 of the 2021 NBA Draft.”

The Syracuse product is currently in the midst of a breakout season where he is averaging 23.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists through 39 games played. Despite his stellar numbers, the Pistons have yet to attain success as they continue to struggle with a 12-30 record for the 15th spot in the Eastern Conference.

It's not surprising to know that Grant has already caught the attention of many teams, given how well he has been playing this season. So much so that the interested suitors are willing to part ways with valuable draft assets just to land the services of the 27-year-old forward.

With the shallow rotation of the Pistons, it is already evident that Jerami Grant is being favored to be their main man moving forward. Hopefully, general manager Troy Weaver would get to surround him with more help in the near future in order to not waste the prime years of his career.
