Perhaps in an effort not to be left behind by how the game evolves, Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons has added a new move to his offensive game: a step-back jumper.

Drummond himself posted on his Twitter account a video of him draining a contested step-back jumper, warning opponents in the process:

A step-back jumper will be a great addition to Drummond's offensive arsenal. Especially in this era of the NBA where frontcourt bigs are expected to have a decent jump shot and can handle the ball like a guard. On top of this, bigs are also expected to have enough strength to snag some rebounds and body up their matchups.

A look at the stat sheet will reveal that a midrange shot is a great leap for Drummond. Last season, he has made a living in the paint, 0-3 feet away from the rim, where he shot 65.9 percent. From 3-10 feet, however, he shot just 27.1 percent. From 10-16, he shot just five percent. Last season, he logged in 15 points, a career-best 16 rebounds, along with three dimes per night.

Drummond's Pistons team is entering a transition period as of the moment. The franchise has let go of Stan Van Gundy. He also has a new teammate in Blake Griffin, who he seems to have good chemistry with.
