Blake Griffin gave everything he had and laid it all on the line for the Detroit Pistons in their first-round matchup versus the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks.

Pistons fans at Little Caesars Arena showed their appreciation to their All-Star forward and showered him with love as he walked back gingerly to the bench ā€” heavily bandaged knee and all ā€” after fouling out midway through the fourth quarter in Game 4:

Griffin deserved every bit of the standing ovation and the ā€œMVPā€ chants he received on Monday night as he valiantly came back for Games 3 and 4 despite his knee injury.

Griffin has been dealing with a knee injury over the past several weeks. This forced him to miss the first two games of their series against the heavily favored Bucks. In fact, there were rumblings that Griffin would miss the entire series because of the lingering knee issue.

Nevertheless, Griffin sucked it up and played through the pain. He led Detroit in their season-ending Game 4 loss with 22 points, five rebounds, and six assists in 28 minutes before fouling out at the 7:06 mark in the fourth. He preceded his valiant Game 4 performance with 27 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in Game 3.

Overall, the former Oklahoma standout had a magnificent bounce-back campaign, and it's arguable that he even had a career year this season. Griffin, 30, averaged a career-best 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.4 assists this season.

Other than his late-season injury, Blake Griffin had a relatively healthy campaign and played 75 games, his most games played in five seasons.
