Blake Griffin has been on the receiving end of a lot alley-oops in the past from his former L.A. Clippers teammate Chris Paul. After Paul was traded and now that he’s with a new team as well, Griffin has become a much better passer.

In the first quarter of the game between the Detroit Pistons and the Portland Trail Blazers Monday night, Griffin rebounded a miss from the Blazers’ C.J. McCollum. He brought the ball down all the way to the half court line before throwing a lob pass to a streaking Andre Drummond who finished the play with a two-handed jam.

The All-Star forward is averaging a career-high in assists at 5.5 per game. In his two games with the Pistons, he has increased that to 6.0 every night. Though it’s a very small sample size of two games, it appears that Griffin is looking to involve Drummond in the offense more and more.

The Pistons have won two straight games since Griffin came on board. In his debut game versus the Memphis Grizzlies, Griffin scored 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and delivered five assists with two blocks to power the team to a 104-102 win. In his next game, they defeated the Miami Heat 111-107 despite the Oklahoma product having a subpar game. Still, Griffin finished with a stat line of 16 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists — numbers that helped them get a second straight win.

It looks as if Griffin’s inclusion in the Pistons lineup has given the team a much-needed shot of adrenaline.

Just ask Drummond.
