Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas shared a friendly embrace with his fellow Chicago native, Derrick Rose, during Wednesday morning's practice session.

Rose joined the Pistons this offseason, agreeing to the terms of a two-year, $15 million deal. Though he's played for several teams in the past, the former No. 1 overall pick says he feels comfortable in Detroit:

“With everything that’s going on, I’m just looking for a comfortable spot to play and just the opportunity,” Rose told the Detroit Free Press last month. “Here is that. I’ve had all the accolades in the past. I’m past that.

“Now I want to win,” Rose added. “The only thing on my résumé I’m missing is a championship and being here, seeing what happened last year with the Raptors in (the) East, you never know what can happen.”

Rose made 51 appearances with the Bucks last season (13 starts), racking up averages of 18.0 points on 48.2 percent shooting from the field (37.0 percent from beyond the arc), 4.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 27.3 minutes per outing.

At this point, it's not clear how well Rose will fare with the Pistons, but his teammates are confident that he will help the team in the coming season.

“Derrick is still a very good basketball player,” Blake Griffin told the Detroit Free Press. “His run in Chicago was special and to do it at that age (was special). He was great for the game of basketball and is great for the game of basketball.

“Even today, you can see how many people are rooting for him and how many respect him, and he will be great for us as well.”

The Pistons finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 41-41 overall record, which earned the team a No. 9 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Unfortunately, though, Detroit was swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round.

Hopefully, with Rose aboard, the Pistons will make another run at the postseason.
