TNetflix is working on a live-action Pokemon series, according to sources.

The popular streaming platform is well-known for giving beloved animated shows the live-action treatment. And Pokemon being one of them was just inevitable at this point.

There aren't quite any details yet, but apparently, Joe Henderson is attached to write the series and executive produce.

Henderson is currently the co-showrunner and executive producer on the popular Netflix series “Lucifer”. The show is preparing to air its sixth and final season at the streamer.

Pokemon is centered on fictional creatures called “Pokémon”. In Pokémon, some humans, known as Pokemon Trainers, catch and train Pokémon to battle other Pokémon for sport. Wow, that's a lot of Pokémon. The beloved Japanese franchise was created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995.

Netflix currently has several Pokemon shows on the streaming platform such as Pokémon: Indigo League and Pokémon Journeys. So it seems natural for Netflix to just go on ahead and make a live-action adaptation.

Detective Pikachu proved to be a box office success upon its release. The film starred Ryan Reynolds as the iconic lightning-type Pokemon. It grossed over $430 million worldwide on a reported budget of $150 million.

Netflix has been delving into more live-action adaptations of anime titles recently. These include the upcoming “Cowboy Bebop” and “One Piece” live-action series. Netflix previously released a live-action “Death Note” film in 2017. Although fans of the anime tend to pretend this never existed.

Will the live-action adaptation of Pokemon be among the greats? Or will it prove to be just another disappointment? I guess all we can do now is wait.
