As the Pokemon Legends Arceus and Diamond & Pearl share a lot of the same Pokemon, it's no surprise that one of the most beloved Dragon-types is roaming around certain caverns and cliffs in Hisui. Players can get their hands on Gible, Gabite, and Garchomp in the new title, but it'll need a bit of searching through the fourth zone in the game. Here, we've laid out everything you need to know on how to find Gible and evolve it into Garchomp, or even catch the Alpha version of Gabite.

Where to find Gible in Pokemon Legends Arceus

After quelling the third noble Pokemon, Hisuian Arcanine in Cobalt Coastlands, players will eventually gain access to a fourth zone in Legends Arceus. When you start Mission 10: Scaling Perilous Heights, you'll head over to the mountainous region of Coronet Highlands. Gible will appear in two locations in Coronet Highlands, one is the Wayward Cave and the other is the Clamberclaw Cliffs. Follow the steps below to find the Dragon-type in either area.

Wayward Cave

  • Once you've unlocked the new location, head over to Coronet Highlands, following the mission objective marker to go to the Wayward Cave with Diamond Clan Warden Ingo.
  • Outside the cave, you'll activate a cutscene where Ingo says he needs to fix the torches to set up the Mountain Camp.
  • Instead of following the objective marker to find Ingo, take this time to explore the cave before progressing through the story.
  • There are plenty of twisting tunnels, but you will be able to find Gible in a room in the caverns. (See the next section on tips on how to catch Gible).

Clamberclaw Cliffs

  • After you set up the Mountain Camp and continue following the objective marker, you'll find Ingo and he'll challenge you to a battle.
  • After defeating Ingo, you'll unlock the Ride Sneasler, which will allow you to scale the mountains in Coronet Highlands.
  • Using the Celestial Flute will summon Sneasler who'll use Rock Climb and carry you up the mountain in the basket on its back so you can gain access to an area called Clamberclaw Cliffs.
    • Again, you want to explore the area and find Clamberclaw Cliffs located at the top of the map before progressing the storyline, so ignore the objective marker for now.
    • To check if you're headed in the right direction, press the minus button to access your map, and keep an eye out for the location cue that will appear on your screen to tell you that you've arrived at Clamberclaw Cliffs.
  • Walk alongside the cliff ledge—but be careful not to fall—until you find Gible. You can also find a high-leveled Alpha Gabite, the first evolutionary stage of Gible, around these cliffs.

How to catch Gible and Alpha Gabite in Pokemon Legends Arceus

Gible is an aggressive Pokemon, so once it spots you, it will attack you right away. Hence, if you find Gible either in the Wayward Cave or the Clamberclaw Cliffs, do not approach it but instead stay far back and slowly get yourself into position to use the Back Strike technique.

  • Drop into a crouching position and throw out an Oran Berry in a strategic location to distract Gible. The Pokemon will approach the berry and hopefully have its back turned.
  • Keep crouching and move slowly towards Gible until you are within distance to throw a Pokeball.
  • Use a Great Ball, Ultra Ball or Heavy Ball to boost your chances of success, aiming at Gible's back. If you've found Alpha Gabite, a Heavy Ball or Gigaton Ball would work best.
  • If Gible breaks out of the Pokeball, you can either try battling it to catch it. This also works for Alpha Gabite; bring down the health bar until it is yellow and try inducing a status condition like sleep or paralysis.
  • Alternatively, you can run away from it. Once the flashing red eye has disappeared, return to the spot to try again, using the same stealth technique above.
  • Another option, particularly if you are at the Cliffs and you accidentally knocked out the ‘mon in battle, is to return to the Mountain Camp. Rest until the next morning, then head back to the cliffs, and you'll find Gible in the same location. This method also works for Alpha Gabite.

How to evolve Gible into Garchomp

RECOMMENDED (Article Continues Below)

The Gible evolutionary line transforms in a straightforward way. You don't need a special item or friendship level to evolve, just reaching a certain level will do. Gible evolves into Gabite at level 24, and Garchomp at level 48. Upon reaching the minimum level, open up the menu in your satchel. You'll see the Pokeball flashing and you can now initiate the Pokemon's evolution. You can accumulate experience by keeping Gible in your party as you battle or capture Pokemon throughout your adventure. Alternatively, to raise its level quickly, you can feed it Rare Candies.

If you capture the Alpha Gabite instead of Gible, you're in luck because you can transform it into Garchomp right away—the Alpha version spawns at above level 50, which is beyond the level needed for triggering its evolution. However, there's also a catch with going for the Alpha Gabite instead of regular Gible.

It's recommended that you complete the Dex entry (reach Research Level 10) for Gible rather than Gabite. This will also make it easier for you in case you want to try and find a Shiny version. It's much harder to finish the research tasks for the evolved stage, given how rare it is for Gabite to spawn in Coronet Highlands.

So that's how you can get Gible and its evolved forms in Pokemon Legends Arceus. If you've finished exploring the Coronet Highlands, you might head on over to the Alabaster Icelands to hunt for Hisuian Sneasel, Hisuian Zorua, or Riolu and Alpha Lucario, so check out our guides for catching these Pokemon, too!
