The Pokemon Company dropped a new trailer for the free-to-play game, Pokemon Unite yesterday. It will be the first MOBA-style Pokemon game ever. It will release on July 21, and will feature the genre-staple five-on-five matches across three lanes. Interestingly, the map is an oval shape instead of the typical square.

The game will take place on Aeos Island. Similar to other MOBAs, each game of Pokemon Unite will also reset each Pokemon to level 1. Leveling up in a game will allow you to evolve your Pokemon and unlock new skills and abilities. The traditional MOBA roles will be called “attacker, speedster, supporter, or all-rounder.”

Pokemon Unite will also make its way to mobile devices later on in September. It will support cross-play between the Switch, iOS, and Android versions. Player progress also carries between all platforms. The game's players will also be able to customize their own trainers. Additionally, Pokemon Unite will be localized in French, Italian, Spanish, and German

Players who download Pokemon Unite by August 31 will get a license for Zeraora from Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. This will allow them to use the Pokemon in battle. The official announcement page says: “Zeraora can close the distance between itself and its opponents in the blink of an eye, just like lightning, and deal massive amounts of damage all at once. Its Unite Move, Plasma Gale, sends out a powerful electric blast that creates a zone of plasma around the area where the blast hits.”
