Week 7 of the college football season is in the books and there were plenty of shocking results and finishes that will change the landscape going forward. Let’s predict the new top 10 in the college football rankings going forward following Saturday’s chaos.

College football rankings

(Predictions)

1.) Georgia (7-0)

Once again, the Georgia Bulldogs faced an undefeated SEC team that was starting to get a lot of hype like when they faced Arkansas a couple weeks back. This time it was the Kentucky Wildcats and the result was the same.

With backup quarterback Stetson Bennett starting again, Georgia had no problems with the Wildcats, winning the game 30-13. If not for a late garbage time touchdown with just a couple of seconds left by Kentucky, it would've been 30-7 and a cover for the Bulldogs.

Georgia will enter its bye week with the No. 1 spot next to their name in the college football rankings. Out of the bye, they will face a Florida Gators team that should fall out of the AP Top 25 completely after suffering their third loss of the season. For now, Georgia is an a class of their own.

2.) Cincinnati (6-0)

This is going to be fascinating to follow along with for the rest of the year.

Cincinnati is 6-0 after a drubbing of Central Florida and this isn't your normal UCF team. This version is 3-3, has a new head coach in Gus Malzahn and has sputtered all season long.

The Bearcats schedule is a cakewalk the rest of the way outside of one potentially ranked matchup against SMU down the line. Cincinnati should be able to run the table and it will bring about all sorts of debate as to whether or not their schedule warrants a playoff spot. Cincinnati comes in at No. 2 for now in our college football rankings predictions.

3.) Oklahoma (7-0)

Changing to true freshman Caleb Williams at quarterback was exactly the jolt this Oklahoma Sooners team needed.

They hung up 52 points on TCU in a comfortable win and there is no turning back now, the Spencer Rattler era is long gone.

Williams looked poised and comfortable, as he did against Texas the week prior when he came in for a struggling Rattler.

It hasn't been the most conventional way for the Sooners to get to 7-0 but here they are and they seem to have found a legitimate starting quarterback along the way. Oklahoma is No. 3 in our college football rankings.

4.) Alabama (6-1)

This won't make some fanbases who have undefeated teams happy like Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma State and a couple others but Alabama will be ranked No. 4 in the AP Top 25 when the poll is released.

The Crimson Tide rebounded from their loss to Texas A&M by blowing out Mississippi State on the road.

Alabama's offense kept rolling and the defense finally put together a near complete performance. We say “near complete” because Nick Saban would never say it was a complete performance.

With the Iowa loss to Purdue, the Tide are right back in the playoff picture at No. 4 in our college football rankings.

5.) Michigan (6-0)

This is where our poll continues to differ from the actual AP Top 25. While that poll has three one-loss teams ahead of Michigan, we do not.

Whether or not you believe in the Wolverines this year is one thing but what they've done to this point can't be taken away from them.

A lot more will be discovered in the coming weeks when Michigan faces Michigan State, Penn State and Ohio State. The B1G East is going to start cannibalizing itself in the next month or so and that's when we will find out who emerges.

Michigan deserves the No. 5 spot in the college football rankings for now even though it won't be the reality once the poll is out.

6.) Oregon (5-1)

It sure wasn't pretty against California on Friday night but a win is a win and the Ducks got it.

It's baffling that a one-loss Oregon team is behind a one-loss Ohio State team in the top 10 when the Ducks literally went into Columbus and beat the Buckeyes. Again, our college football rankings reflect that and not what the AP Top 25 will likely show again which is Ohio State ahead of the Ducks.

7.) Ohio State (5-1)

Ohio State had a bye week and coming out of it they still face Penn State, Michigan State and Michigan. Like Michigan, everything about the B1G East will be revealed over the next month.

8.) Oklahoma State (6-0)

An impressive win at Texas, 32-24, has Oklahoma State leapfrogging up to No. 8 in our college football rankings.

It's not your typical Mike Gundy squad, this one gets it done with the defense and they buckled down against Texas after a slow start.

Who knows how far this team can really go but a Big 12 Championship appearance is looking them straight in the eyes if the Cowboys can keep grooving. A big matchup at Iowa State looms next week.

9.) Michigan State (7-0)

It wasn't spectacular or breath-taking from the Spartans on Saturday but they went into Indiana and emerged with a grind-it-out, 20-15 win.

Sparty continues to get ignored and overlooked and all they've done this year is win.

Michigan State shows up at No. 9 on our college football rankings.

10.) Ole Miss (5-1)

Penn State will almost certainly be in the top 10 after being No. 7 last week and having a bye week but we slot in Ole Miss at No. 10 to round out our college football rankings.

The Rebels went into hostile territory and avoided aluminum bottles, mustard bottles, golf balls and the Tennessee Volunteers in their 31-26 win.

The lone loss for Ole Miss is against Alabama and Lane Kiffin has this team bought in and committed. LSU awaits its crack at the Rebels in Week 8.
