Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have received their wish. After appealing on Friday to postpone the North London Derby on Sunday against Tottenham, the Premier League has decided to make the tough decision due to a host of players out for specifically the Gunners with either COVID-19 or injuries.

Spurs are also dealing with numerous absences, but they would've had enough players to suit up. This is definitely a bummer because it's one of the most intriguing Premier League clashes of the campaign, but Arsenal's squad could barely scratch by. A lot of key pieces are currently sidelined for Arteta's side, including Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, and others.

The Gunners just held Liverpool to a scoreless draw in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals on Thursday, despite playing for most of the match with 10 men after Granit Xhaka was handed a straight red card in the first half. He was also set to be unavailable on Sunday because of it. Arsenal currently sits in fifth place in the Premier League table.

As for Spurs, they're just two points behind Arsenal in the standings and would've relished in the chance to leapfrog them. Unfortunately, they will now have to wait to clash with their rivals. It's unknown at this point when the Premier League will reschedule this match.
