Priscila Cachoeira found herself in a very unfortunate situation at UFC 269. Not only was she submitted by her opponent, but she also tried to get out of it by cheating.

She put her thumb in her opponent, Gillian Robertson's eye two times. The move was called out by Joe Rogan on the UFC broadcast who said she was cheating and eye-gouging.

Now Priscila Cachoeira has addressed the unfortunate situation at UFC 269. She apologizes and explains what was going through her mind at the moment it happened. She spoke about it with  Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting.

“It wasn’t my intention to [gouge] her eye when she was on my back, I didn’t know it was going in the direction of her eye,” UFC flyweight Cachoeira said. “My intention was to go for her neck and push it. That was my intention, but I was desperate, almost snoring, and it’s a matter of survival, right? I want to get it off. But it wasn’t my intention to hit her eyes. Never.

“I’m a professional and I’ve already apologized to her in person and via Instagram, and she was super cool. Critics will come, right? There’s no other way. I’ll wait for the dust to settle and work to come back stronger.”

It will be interesting to see if anything comes out of the situation. Many were calling for the UFC to cut her after she also missed weight.

Priscila Cachoeira was on a good run with back-to-back knockout victories. The UFC contender will hope to bounce back from the negative situation.
