It was just a matter of time. Gianluigi Donnarumma's transfer to Paris Saint-German from AC Milan is now finally official.

Not even two full months ago, Donnarumma received threats from Milan ultras outside the training ground. Despite the incident reportedly leaving Donnarumma in tears, the EURO 2020 winner was unable to negotiate a new contract with his boyhood club AC Milan. He now joins the French giant for free on a five-year deal.

Here's his official statement for PSG's website:

“I am delighted to be part of this huge club. I feel ready to take on this new challenge and continue to grow here. With Paris, I want to win as much as possible and to bring joy to the supporters.”

PSG chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi added:

“We are delighted to welcome Gianluigi Donnarumma to Paris Saint-Germain. We congratulate him on his UEFA EURO 2020 success and winning Player of the Tournament. I know Gianluigi will receive a warm Parisian welcome from everyone at the club, including his teammates, our staff, and all the supporters.”

Even though he joins the club on a free transfer, some big numbers are still involved. Donnarumma reportedly agreed on a  yearly wage of €12 million (double what he used to earn at AC Milan), while his agent, Mino Raiola, is set to receive a commission of €20 million. Absolutely crazy!

Donnarumma made his debut for AC Milan at just 16 years of age, his international debut at 17, and has since been a regular starter in both teams. At just 22 years old, he's made over 200 appearances for the Italian club and helped them to second place in the 20/21 season in Serie A.

After his impressive performances in the summer during EURO 2020 where he received the honor of the Best Player of the Tournament (only second goalkeeper to do so), he's sure to do well in his new club as well.
