PSG are grinning ear to ear right now after Kylian Mbappe decided to extend his stay at the club and snub Real Madrid. There was a firm belief he'd leave for the Spanish capital this summer, but after Paris handed the Frenchman a record-breaking contract, he couldn't say no.

Los Blancos fans are undoubtedly disappointed because not only did they miss out on Mbappe, but the La Liga champions also struck out swinging on Erling Haaland, who is going to play for Manchester City.

Following the whole saga, Mbappe sent a message to Real following his decision to remain at PSG.

Via Fabrizio Romano:

“Message to Real Madrid fans? I wanna say thank you, as they always accepted me as one of them. I understand their disappointment, and I hope they understand I decided to stay in my country”.

The PSG striker also revealed he personally called Madrid president Florentino Perez:

“I have respect for Real Madrid and Florentino Perez. I They did everything for me and tried to make me very happy, that's why I had to call him personally, we’ve a close relationship. I just decided for myself and I made the best decision”.

Not only will Mbappe make around 100 million per season until 2025, but the France international was also handed a signing bonus by PSG worth a whopping 300 million. On top of that, the Ligue 1 champions will allow him to have a say in who the next manager and sporting director is. Mbappe is also expected to be involved in which players PSG signs in the coming months.

No player in football has ever been given this type of leverage or money. After scoring 34 goals and supplying 21 assists for the side, however, they knew a massive deal had to be put on the table in order to keep Mbappe from joining their Champions League rivals.

Let's hope he can help propel them to European glory next term.
