The floodgates have opened. Lionel Messi has finally scored his first Ligue 1 goal for PSG in his sixth domestic appearance.

In classic Messi fashion, the Argentine received a pass from Kylian Mbappe, cut onto his left foot, and picked his spot with an emphatic strike into the bottom left corner:

PSG cruised to a convincing 3-1 victory over Nantes to secure their spot at the top of the table, sitting 13 points ahead of second-place Lens. Messi has struggled to produce in minimal games in league play, but after recovering from injury, the 34-year-old came back with a vengeance and finally broke his goal-scoring drought.

Messi does have three goals to his name in as many Champions League appearances, however, helping PSG collect eight points from four games in Europe. They're currently second in Group A behind Manchester City, whom the Parisians beat on September 28th thanks to an absolute stunner from Messi.

The Argentina international made the shocking move to the French capital this past summer after an illustrious career at Barcelona, helping PSG form one of the most deadly frontlines in the world alongside Kylian Mbappe and Neymar. However, the trio hasn't exactly played a lot together due to various injuries.

Hopefully, Messi can build off Saturday's performance and continue to be a key figure in the final third as the Ligue 1 giants look to re-capture the title after Lille edged them out last term.
