The Purdue Boilermakers might be one of the most underrated basketball programs in the nation. No one tell Eric Hunter that, as the 4-star prospect has committed to play for Matt Painter.

This is Purdue's third verbal commitment for the 2018 class. A 6-foot-3 guard from Indianapolis, Eric Hunter joins forward Trevion Williams and center Emmanuel Dowuona in the team's class. It is worth noting that Hunter is currently the only in-state commitment of the group.

About Purdue, Hunter recently told Peegs.com:

“It is one thing to be wanted and needed by the coaches, but when the players express that to you it is an entirely different thing. Purdue is losing four guys so there will be a lot of minutes. I just like how honest Coach (Matt) Painter is with me and how honest he is with everybody.”

Hunter had a strong spring and summer running with Team Harris on the Adidas Silver Gauntlet. He originally narrowed his choices down to Butler, Ohio State, Minnesota, Purdue, and Xavier before ultimately selecting the Boilermakers.

The program is set to lose a ton of talent when the upcoming season ends. It is important for Painter to begin reloading with capable guys. As for this season, the Boilermakers are certainly in good shape and should be contending for a Big Ten title.

Purdue has a total of four seniors on this season’s roster, with forward Vince Edwards and center Isaac Haas being the focal point. Off to a great start for the 2018 class, things are unlikely to slow down for the program anytime too soon.
