The Oceanic Esports League announced the QH Sports Dota Series 1 on Thursday, July 29. Through a press release, the Australia-based tournament organizers announced their partnership with Qui Hia Sports to launch this tournament. It will be an invitational of the top Dota 2 teams of the SEA and China regions.

The OEL will be inviting ten different teams to compete in the invitational tournament. It will kick off in a single round-robin group stage, followed by a double-elimination playoffs bracket. The top eight teams will be vying for the lion's share of the $15,000 prize pool.

The QH Sports Dota Series 1 will have the following prize distribution:

1st place: $7,000
2nd place: $3,000
3rd place: $1,500
4th place: $1,000
5th-6th place: $750 each
7th-8th place: $500 each

OEL has not revealed which teams will be invited yet, but SEA team TNC Predator can be ruled out of the equation. The organization has announced earlier this month that the team will be taking a break for the remainder of the season, possibly returning only after The International 10. The rest of the SEA and China regions may be included in this tournament, with the best surely receiving invites from the organizers in the following weeks.

OEL and QH Sports plan to make QH Sports Dota Series a four-part tournament. OEL has yet to announce the tournament's execution dates, and encourages fans to check on their Facebook, Twitter, and official website for more information about the event.
