Upon watching the trailers where Xiao is revealed to be the newest addition in Genshin's playable characters, you suddenly unleash the inner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in you.

“FINALLY! XIAO HAS COME BACK TO GENSHIN IMPACT!”

Well he has always been a part of the game but more of a story based character. Now is the time where his full abilities can be unleashed. I could sense your fingers itching to play him though you'll have to wait until February 3 to roll your wishes. Luckily for us, the latest update will provide us 10 free event wishes, hoping that our first draw will favor our luck.

But besides his abilities, his role as a conqueror of demons is likewise an intriguing topic. Genshin's latest story teaser would reveal some hints regarding his backstory. We've always wondered why he sounded so rude when we first encountered him and these following questions could further uncover his complex personality.

WILL THERE BE A CONNECTION BETWEEN XIAO AND THE GHOSTS OF TEYVAT?

*WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD*

Remember that quest where the spirit of Dusky Ming spooked us? Or how about that time when we tried to look for the little girl's book, only for her to disappear at the end? There are many supernatural entities in Genshin Impact and their appearances could be explained by the role of the Yakshas.

At the beginning of the story teaser, Zhongli mentioned that the wrath of the defeated gods roamed around Liyue. Their dying spirits summoned demons, unwanted entities, and even regisvines. Perhaps this could also explain the appearances of ghosts in Genshin Impact.

Given how they ravaged Liyue, Zhongli had no choice but to create the Yakshas to prevent evil from further spreading.

Once this connection is established, we might once again encounter Dusky Ming where we are forced to rest her soul. Hu Tao might even be involved given her role as the director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. Her appearance might annoy some fans who would prefer her banner over Keqing.

WHO ARE THE OTHER YAKSHAS?

Among the five Yakshas, only Xiao was left. Three were killed, while one disappeared without a trace.

This ultimately opens our curiosity where we want to know more about the Yakshas. One of them vanished and perhaps he or she could appear in the upcoming update. The restless spirits of the other dead Yakshas might make an appearance and they could either aid us in our quests or they could be the primary villains where we have no choice but to exorcise their spirits. Maybe their appearances could explain the world bosses that we encounter as each of the Yakshas have elemental traces. Their tragic fates could explain Xiao's tempestuous personality.

Or maybe miHoYo will opt to make things minimalistic by explaining their fates in a investigative approach similar to what occurred in Havria's storyline.

WILL VENTI HAVE A MAJOR ROLE IN THE STORY?

Since Xiao is the only demon hunter left, he gets rewarded where his efforts were made into a song. Venti was seen at the tail end of the video, using a flute with Xiao standing tall on the background. Below are some poetic verses, seen from the video's description.

Alatus is the Golden-Winged King who is also the Conqueror of Demons.

None knows whence he came, nor whither he went.

Only at springtime, during the offering of lanterns at night, might the people see the glow at Guyun and declare:

“Behold, the Vigilant Yaksha ends the dominion of daemons!”

Or they might hear the sound of a flute amongst the marsh reeds, but find none who play the flute, and thus declare:

“Hark, the yaksha calls to summon his old friends to their homeland.”

This begs the question, is there a deeper bond between Venti and Xiao? Zhongli might even make his appearance given his connections with the conqueror of demons.

Let's just wait and see. As of now, let's focus on exorcising those demons tempting us to spend all our resources on Ganyu.
