Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears Monday night to end a ridiculous streak of nine games in a row where Cousins had lost in primetime.

Luke Braun, the host of the daily Locked On Vikings Podcast, says it is time to quit using Cousins’ primetime record to evaluate his abilities. He answered a listener question that asked: Any words for the folks who said Kirk Cousins couldn’t play in primetime?

Braun: Here’s what I say to that actually. For one, their point was that he was 0-9 and now he is 1-9 … Your point didn’t get that much weaker, but it already was not very strong because that’s a stupid split. Essentially, primetime splits are dumb. They are not very predictive at all. Nobody has ever used a primetime split to predict a primetime game. It is not any better than flipping a coin. So if you are really big on the primetime Kirk or the Monday night Kirk or that he can’t do it under the lights, then I think if you want to prove the case that Kirk Cousins crumbles under pressure, I’d go to more of a play-to-play approach so you can look and see what happens when he’s under pressure, or look at the mistakes that he makes, or when there was pressure, did he throw a pick-6 or something like that. I would probably go that route. The Monday night and Sunday night stuff, most of that is just kind of noise and luck and I do not think you’d be any better than flipping a coin.
