Oakland Raiders receiver Amari Cooper wasn't exactly off to the best start of the National Football League season. Once considered one of the league's better talents at the position, he had games where he was almost a near non-factor.

Following a huge performance against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night, that might be no more. Furthermore, the positive momentum earned with that game is something the Raiders can use that win moving forward. It could also be something Amari Cooper uses to get his season going in full-gear.

This is not lost on the receiver, as he realizes how big a win it was for Oakland.

“We have a lot of playmakers at the receiver position,” Cooper said. “And we went into this week saying that we wanted to take more shots, more explosive plays.

“It was huge for me, it was huge for the team. Anytime that anyone can create some explosive plays, get first downs, we’re going to have more plays on offense. And eventually we’ll keep scoring.”

When asked during the presser if there was anything done differently this week, the explosive receiver basically did a shoulder shrug emoji with words, just saying, “no.”

The AFC West is one of the most difficult divisions in all of football. Kansas City, Oakland and the Denver Broncos each operate within it as better than just good football teams. Heck, even the Los Angeles Chargers, while extremely flawed, are no cupcake.

If the Raiders want to fight for the divisional crown, or even just make the playoffs, it will need Amari Cooper and crew to have more games like they had on Thursday evening.
