Antonio Brown is taking the narrative into his own hands. Mere hours after the Oakland Raiders announced that he would indeed play in his team's regular-season opener on Monday night, the six-time Pro Bowler posted a video on Instagram that includes a recent phone conversation he shared with Jon Gruden.

Did you catch that? Obviously, Brown is serving his best interests by giving the public direct access to his conversation with the Raiders' coach. Regardless, it certainly seems like Gruden is on his side despite so much ongoing turmoil since the Raiders traded for him in March.

“You're not a villain. You're just…You're the most misunderstood f****** human being I've ever met in my entire life that I've ever met,” Gruden said on the call. “I mean I brought you here because you're my favorite guy – I've never seen a guy work harder.”

The latest controversy involving Brown stems from him being fined for missing multiple team activities over the offseason, and subsequently complaining about it on social media. On Thursday, he reportedly got into an argument with Oakland general manager Mike Mayock at practice, a discussion so heated that Brown had to be held back by teammate Vontaze Burfict.

The immediate fallout of the confrontation suggested Brown may continue his career elsewhere. Instead, he apologized to his teammates on Friday, clearing the way for him to make his debut in silver and black on Monday night against the Denver Broncos. Shortly thereafter, ESPN reported that the Raiders had fined Antonio Brown for his interaction with Mayock, a development that apparently hasn't ruined this sudden surge of goodwill between he and his team.
