In an exclusive interview with the Establish The Pass podcast on ClutchPoints, Las Vegas Raiders Pro Bowler Darren Waller talked about the team being within striking distance of the Kansas City Chiefs, his growing chemistry with Derek Carr as one of the most explosive duos in the NFL, his impressive place in the Raider record books in just two full seasons, his music career, work with the community, his favorite Jon Gruden saying, and more.

When Waller was just trying to get snaps with the Raiders in 2018, Derek Carr took him under his wing. Three years later, they have become one of the most potent duos in the entire NFL. Waller discussed their growing chemistry and hard work to get to this point.

“Yeah, it’s a relationship that started right when I got into the team,” said Waller. “Derek expressed his belief in me when I was running scout cards when I first got to the Raiders, telling me that I’ll be able to do some great things. It's just things like that that resonate, just being friends and having vulnerable conversations about life and stuff like that, it just turns it into somebody you don't want to let down.

“With that connection we're able to have that dialogue where it's like, ‘Okay, break that route here, not there.' Showing up at a certain time, we can have that dialogue together where it's not, you know, he feels like he's stepping on my toes or I feel like I'm stepping on his.

“We have that good dialogue and we put in the work together,” said Waller. “Last year we didn’t allow COVID excuses to set in and we were throwing at parks all around, around Vegas, and just getting in work anyway we could. Just honing in the timing and the reps of things, it pays off on Sundays because we try to do that every single day.”
