The Las Vegas Raiders signed wide receiver Hunter Renfrow to a contract extension Friday morning. The deal is reportedly worth $32 million over two years, with $21 million guaranteed. If you asked new Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams if that was a wise decision, he likely would say yes.

Following the news of the contract, Adams spoke out about the former Clemson product. He apparently holds Renfrow in very high regard.

ā€œHis awareness and his football smarts are definitely ahead of his timeā€¦ This is fun being able to be with somebody who's a lot like me mentally,ā€ Adams said.

That's about as high a praise as a wide receiver can get. Adams has been known as arguably the smartest receiver in the league over the last couple of years. The numbers he has been putting up have been Hall of Fame worthy. But it's his ability on the field to read defenses and instinctually know what to do that has separated him from his peers. His former quarterback Aaron Rodgers has often talked about Adams' instincts and connection they had on the football field.

That's certainly part of the reason why the Raiders went out and traded for the Pro Bowl wideout.

Meanwhile, Renfrow is coming off of a career year with Las Vegas. He caught 103 passes for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns. When you watch film of him, his route-running is exceptional and he was rightfully rewarded.

The Raiders also gave Derek Carr a massive contract extension this offseason. Las Vegas should be one of the better offenses in the league. Josh Jacobs in the backfield, Adams and Renfrow at wideout, and Darren Waller at tight end is as good a set of weapons as you will find.
