Two seasons are already in the books for the second stint of returning Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden. With him patrolling the sidelines and quarterback Derek Carr playing under center, the team is expected to reach new heights moving forward. An upward trajectory is looking to continue for the Raiders as they have gone 4-12 and 7-9 in their first two seasons under Gruden, respectively.

Raiders owner Mark Davis remains optimistic on the team's potential in the upcoming seasons:

“The best quarterbacks are the ones that have the wins; stats will follow,” Davis said, via ESPN. “But you can’t discount the continuity between Derek and Jon. The longer they’re together, the more osmosis there is. There’s a legitimacy to all of it. Jon has a trust in him, and [Carr] works hard and he’s very, very smart. I think it’s all positive, but you still have to play the damn game.”

Despite the evident improvement in the team's win-loss record, the Raiders still finished third in a competitive AFC West division last season. The group is ruled by Super Bowl LIV champion Kansas City Chiefs who finished with a 12-4 tally. The second spot was occupied by the 7-9 Denver Broncos, while the cellar-dwelling Los Angeles Chargers recorded a 5-11 finish. The Raiders eventually went on to miss the playoffs for the 17th-straight season.

However, things are on the uprise as the team recently relocated from Oakland to Las Vegas. They also acquired more offensive threats and defensive bodies that will hold the fort for the Raiders. With the changes made, the team is finally aiming to overtake the Broncos and pose an imminent challenge to the Chiefs.
