The Las Vegas Raiders recently suffered a huge blow as quarterback Derek Carr went down with a groin injury in their Week 15 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Carr is initially expected to miss 10 to 14 days to recover and was a limited participant in their recent team practice, via Pro Football Talk.

However, the three-time Pro Bowler remained adamant about his desire to play in their upcoming game against the Miami Dolphins. Raiders head coach Jon Gruden insisted that the team will continue to evaluate Carr's condition and make the appropriate decision for the betterment of everyone on the team, per ESPN‘s Paul Gutierrez.

After Carr headed to the sidelines early in the game, backup quarterback Marcus Mariota produced a respectable performance. He generated 226 passing yards on 17-of-28 passes completed along with a passing touchdown. He also burned rubber for 88 rushing yards to go with a rushing TD.

Running back Josh Jacobs chipped in 76 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on 26 carries while tight end Darren Waller balled out with 150 yards and a scored touchdown on nine receptions.

After encountering a tightly-contested battle against the Chargers, the Raiders ultimately ran out of gas and fell short in the overtime period. Opposing quarterback Justin Herbert's clutch 1-yard rushing touchdown ultimately iced the 30-27 victory for the Chargers.

After their pivotal Week 15 loss, the Raiders are now in danger of losing a seat in the playoffs with a 7-7 record and second in the AFC West division. Hopefully, Derek Carr will be able to rejoin the team in time as they face the Dolphins and the Denver Broncos for their final two games of the regular season.
