Like many other teams throughout the league, the Las Vegas Raiders began mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. The roster is looking pretty different this year, as a result of recent signings, trades, and draft acquisitions.

However, one player not officially added to the roster is Colin Kaepernick. The quarterback practiced with the Raiders a few weeks ago, leading many to believe he could be the team's newest signing.

Raiders QB1 Derek Carr expressed his opinion on the potential pickup at minicamp on Tuesday.

The Athletic's Vic Tafur tweeted that although other players denied commenting on the situation, Carr believes the Raiders would be a good fit for Kaepernick.

As noted by Tafur, Carr reminisced on their collegiate rivalry in the Western Athletic Conference. He told ESPN's Paul Gutierrez that they would “get along great” when he asked how players would welcome Kaepernick into the Raiders' locker room.

Kaepernick worked out with the Raiders in hopes of scoring a quarterback role on the team. However, the 34-year-old doesn't expect to take over for Carr anytime soon. This offseason, Carr signed a three-year, $121.5 million contract, extending his time with the Raiders until 2026.

Instead, Kaepernick could be a great second-string addition to the Raiders' offense. Despite not playing in the league since 2016, Kaepernick reportedly impressed the organization during his offseason workout. For now, fourth-year quarterback Nick Mullens is slated to be Carr's backup for the upcoming season.
