Derek Carr was supposed to be the franchise quarterback, the man who would lead the Raiders back to glory.

But as the team prepares for a monumental relocation to Las Vegas, Carr's future with the Raiders has become more uncertain. Naturally, the move from Oakland to Las Vegas–combined with a Tom Brady sighting at a recent UFC event–seems to suggest the Raiders are desperate to make a splash this Spring.

As for Carr himself, he is not making too much of the outside noise (via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk):

“I mean, there was a lot of quarterbacks at that fight,” Carr said with a laugh, via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com. “And there was a lot of football players at that fight that are free agents. And it’s like, every time, with my job, it’s always a story. No matter what. And knowing some people that were around, I even know what the conversation was [between Davis and Brady], and it’s like, ‘C’mon, man, when’s it going to end?‘”

Having said that, Carr was also not hesitant to vent his frustration at the notion the Raiders are willing to dump him and move on at the drop of a hat.

“All of these things that [you’d think] everyone would be like, ‘Yes, we’re going the right way. Everything’s getting better, and we know where we need to add things and where we [need] help.’ You would think that that would be the story. But that’s not how it works. And I understand that now,” Carr said.

The rumors surrounding Brady are hardly surprising, though it is easy to see why Carr would be upset. Carr is coming off a 2019 in which he posted career-high numbers in passing yards (4,054), yards gained per pass attempt (7.9), quarterback rating (100.8) and total QBR (63.7), according to Football Reference.

Carr has done what he can to solidify his standing, but everything else is out of his hands.
