There were a lot of questions last season about Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and the relationship with his coach Jon Gruden. There were rumblings that the two didn't get along very well and many believed the team would actually move on from him this off-season.

After not drafting a quarterback it's Carr's job for at least one more season, and he said that he is on the same page as his coach. Carr said that he knows when Gruden calls a play he knows what his coach expects out of him.

“When he calls a certain play, I know what he wants me to look for and if it’s not there, get to this,” Carr said via The Mercury News. I’m already a step ahead with that. I checked a play today, and he’s just sitting back there laughing. We hadn’t even talked about it yet. We’re on that same page and that’s nice.”

Carr also said that he is confident after talking with Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock that the team plans on keeping him around for a long time.

“When I watched the draft, there was like a negative 47 percent of a chance they were going to draft (a quarterback) in my mind . . . I’m honestly going to be here a long time,” Carr said. “Hope that’s OK with you guys, but you’ve got to get used to me.”

If Gruden and Carr can continue to be on the same page and Carr continues to build off the success he had during the second half of last season, maybe is right, and he will be around for a very long time.
