Derek Carr seems to be ready to go. Based on the Las Vegas Raiders‘ latest injury report — which did not include Carr, per ESPN's Adam Schefter — the QB should get the start on Saturday night when his team faces off against the Miami Dolphins for a critical Week 16 clash.

Carr has participated in practice each of the last three days, leading Gruden to say on Thursday that he was “optimistic” about the QB's chances to play on Saturday. However, Gruden initially refused to name a starter.

Last Thursday, Carr suffered a groin injury during the first quarter of the Raiders' Week 15 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers. Marcus Mariota played admirably in his place, throwing for 226 yards, running for 88 yards, and producing two TDs. Despite his valiant effort, Las Vegas fell 30-27 to L.A.

“I am not going to let the cat out of the bag … both quarterbacks have prepared to play,” Gruden said, via Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

Well, the cat seems to have gotten out on its own.

The loss to the Chargers dropped Las Vegas to 7-7 and nearly eliminated the Raiders from the AFC playoff picture. They aren't quite mathematically out of it yet, which could explain the insistence on playing a banged-up Carr, instead of shutting him down for the season's final two games.

In his seventh year under center for the Raiders, the 29-year old Carr has put together one of his most efficient, if not prolific, campaigns. He's tossed 24 touchdowns against seven interceptions, and his completion percentage (68.1) ranks ninth in football among qualified passers, as does his passer rating (102.0).
