The Las Vegas Raiders missed out on the playoffs, and there's no denying that 2019 was a disappointing season. Besides missing the playoffs, the Raiders set an all-time record that they'd rather not be associated with, via Josh Dubow of the Associated Press.

As Dubow pointed out, the Raiders surrendered 370 or more points for the 13th consecutive season. The all-time record becomes even worse when you realize the closest team to reaching it only had six consecutive seasons of allowing 370 or more points.

During the regular season, the Raiders gave up a total of 419 points as a defense. Altogether, the Raiders finished the season with the 24th ranked scoring defense that allowed 26.2 points per game.

Seeing those numbers is discouraging for Jon Gruden to see in his second season. Especially considering that he used two of the team's three first-round picks in 2019 on defensive players. There's no doubt that Gruden wasn't satisfied with how the defense performed this season.

However, giving up a boatload of points has been a glaring issue for the organization for over a decade. Since 2007, the Raiders have gone through seven different head coaches in that span.

Part of the reason why Oakland hasn't been able to fix the defensive issues is due to the constant changes at head coach. As a result, the roster is constantly changing as well.

With Gruden having eight more years on his contract, he'll have plenty of time to shape the team to his liking. With the Raiders heading to Las Vegas in 2020, they're hoping to leave behind the disparaging aspects of their time in Oakland — especially the way they surrendered points.
