Hunter Renfrow forged his path to the NFL during a standout four-year career at Clemson University by defying expectations on a daily basis. Less than a week into his NFL training camp, the rookie fifth-round pick is apparently doing the same with the Oakland Raiders.

Oakland offensive coordinator Greg Olsen lauded Renfrow's performance in both OTAs and training camp, mentioning that he's even acquitted himself well recently when matched up with veteran safety LaMarcus Joyner.

“We're real excited,” Olson said of Renfrow, per Steven Taranto of 247 Sports. “We talked to Lamarcus, we asked him to give Hunter all he can get. And it's been a good matchup. We're real happy (with) where he was at in OTAs. He continued over the summer to work hard and get a better feel for the things that we're gonna ask him to do. And he's had a good three days at rookie minicamp, and he had a good first two days here with the veterans.”

The Raiders selected Renfrow with the No. 149 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Originally a walk-on at Clemson, he was awarded a scholarship in 2015 after redshirting as a true freshman, and subsequently established himself as one of the most reliable receivers in college football.

Renfrow was named Third Team All-ACC in 2017 and 2018, but was routinely at his best when it mattered most. He caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Houston Texans star DeShaun Watson with just one second remaining in the 2017 CFP National Championship game, and also helped the Tigers to a title last season.
