The Oakland Raiders are bringing back their speedy running back Jalen Richard on a deal that will pay him around three million in 2019.

Last season, Richard caught 68 passes for 607 yards, which were both career highs for the fourth year running back. Richard has not missed a single game since entering the league back in 2016 and could see an expanded role next season as he will likely split a workload with new Raiders running back Isaiah Crowell.

Although Richard is a speedster with a great set of hands, it's likely his numbers were as high as they were because Marshawn Lynch was out for most of the season in 2018. The Raiders will likely feature Richard heavily this upcoming season as well considering the lack of playmakers aside from Antonio Brown.

However, it's unlikely Richard will break his 2019 career highs with Brown likely to see double digit targets and Crowell projected to get a bulk of the carries.

The Raiders are going to be in a neck to neck race with the Denver Broncos for third place in the AFC West considering how elite the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs have been the last couple seasons.

Oakland should be playing from behind which could give Richard some work for extra yardage on passing downs. Richard will have to make the most of the carries and targets he receives if he wants a bigger contract after the 2019 season. The Raiders have used Richard as a Swiss-Army knife type of player so it will be interesting to see how they continue to use him this upcoming season.
