The so-called “Antonio Brown sweepstakes” are officially over, and now, he's gone from the Steel City to the O-Town as the newest member of the Oakland Raiders.
After an absolutely exhausting couple of weeks, Brown made the announcement that he's joining the Raiders, and according to a new report, the reason he went out west is because he's a fan of both coach Jon Gruden and quarterback Derek Carr.
Couple Raiders-related notes on trade:
*Asked source close to Brown what intrigued him about Raiders: 'Coach Gruden and Derek Carr,' also cited system, draft capital, good young players
*DC Paul Guenther, who battled Brown for years as Bengals DC, strongly endorsed Brown's game— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) March 10, 2019
The Antonio Brown mutual admiration society is alive and well with both Gruden and Carr, too.
According to ProFootballTalk.com, Gruden has said that Brown is the hardest-working player that he'd ever seen.
“The greatest thing about this man is, I’ve told all our receivers: If you get a chance to watch him practice, you’ll see what unlocks the greatness in him. He’s the hardest working man, I think, in football. Hardest working player I’ve ever seen practice, and I’ve seen Jerry Rice, I’ve seen a lot of good ones. But I put Antonio Brown at the top. And if there’s any young wideouts out there, I’d go watch him practice and you’ll see for yourself why he’s such a good player.”
Derek Carr has also said that he's a big fan of Antonio Brown, as well, and that he looks forward to working with his new teammate. When he found out that Brown was going to be a part of the team, his reaction — a tweet that said “let's go to work” went viral.
Hopefully, this all now means that Brown will make the focus all about the game and not about the drama.
