Former Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden may have gone silent after his resignation from the NFL franchise, but he is far from getting over the scandal he's involved in.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Gruden is thinking about his next steps after the leaked emails that exposed his past racist, homophobic and misogynistic comments about NFL execs, players, coaches, teams and referees.

As La Canfora's sources put it, the issue “is anything but over.” Several lawyers are also said to be willing to “take on a lawsuit against commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL” over the way the league handle the emails–particularly how it leaked to the media.

Some lawyers have asserted that Gruden could have a tortious interference case, claiming the NFL influenced his ouster for private emails that were sent while he was not a league employee that were revealed at a time to inflict maximum damage to Gruden's career. The lack of transparency in the WFT investigation — no written report, no revelation of evidence — has also led to questions about the nature of what other types of potentially offensive language was being used by others in NFL circles. The NFL has said there was no other incidents of such language being used in the 650,000 emails it perused.

Sure enough, it has been a major talk why Jon Gruden's name was the only one dragged in the controversy of an investigation that was not even about him in the first place. The Washington Football Team is being investigated for its allegedly toxic workplace culture, but fans and experts alike question why it was only Gruden's emails being leaked.

As reported previously, Gruden and the Raiders seems to have reached a settlement over the money owed to him–which is said to be north of $40 million–after his resignation. Clearly, though, the former coach is not willing to go down without a fight.
