Jonathan Abram has been very vocal this offseason with the Las Vegas Raiders, and it has caught the eye of Jon Gruden. Amid the events at the NFL Combine, Gruden had a message for Abram pertaining to next season.

“I think he leads the league in interviews right now,” Gruden said, via Jerry McDonald of the Bay Area News Group. “I don’t like Abram, I love Abram. I think Raiders fans are going to love him, but he’s got to be on the grass. The most important ability is availability. I know its cliche and corny, but we got to have him out there, so he’s got to learn to do that and he’s a complete deal. I think he has a playing style that is perfect for the Las Vegas Raiders and I’m confident he’ll prove it.”

Last year, the Raiders selected Abram with the 27th overall pick in the draft. After drafting him, the Raiders were hoping that Abram could provide the defense some help in the secondary. Besides being a talented playmaker, Abram brought a tough-nosed mentality to the defense.

However, in Week 1, the rookie safety out of Mississippi Stat suffered a torn rotator cuff. As a result, Abram was forced to miss the entirety of his first season with the Raiders.

Following a season-ending injury, Abram is prepared to return to the team in 2020. While the team moves to Las Vegas, Gruden is confident that he'll become a fan-favorite in due time. Until then, Gruden hopes that Abram can remain healthy for all 16 games in 2020.
