The Las Vegas Raiders and quarterback Tom Brady have seemingly been circling one another since the conclusion of the 2019 NFL season. But Raiders head coach Jon Gruden tried to bring some finality to the rumors with his latest statement, in which he addressed the possibility of the organization bringing Brady aboard, via John Katsilometes of the Las Vegas Review-Journal:

“You’re killing me, man. We love our quarterback. Our quarterback’s a really good player, Derek Carr. I want to reiterate that to everybody here in Vegas. We’ve got a good, young quarterback, and the film, the statistics and analytics prove it.”

Carr has been the Raiders' quarterback for the past six seasons and has been named to the Pro Bowl on three occasions. He is coming off arguably his best statistical campaign, in which he threw for a career-high 4,054 yards, completed his passes at a 70.4 percent conversion rate and tossed 21 touchdowns with just eight interceptions.

Yet, the fervor to add Brady to one of the league's most popular franchises remains. Factor in that the Raiders have made the move from Oakland to the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas, and the move would be a public relations boon.

Heading into his second season at the helm for the Raiders (in his second stint), Gruden is looking to improve a roster that finished 7-9 last season. Expectations will be sky-high no matter who is under center for the franchise Week 1, but if you're asking Gruden, his answer — at least for now — is Carr.
