At this point, it seems inevitable that Jon Gruden will return to coaching in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders. All signs point to the reunion in Oakland with Gruden for the time in years not denying the rumors of a coaching comeback.

Gruden made it seem as if it is only a matter of a time that he takes the job in Oakland by saying the following when asked if he'll indeed take the job with the Raiders on ESPN's Golic & Wingo, transcription via Tom Shad of USA Today.

“I have had conversations with Mark, and they're still, I believe, going through the interview process,” Gruden told ESPN. “When he knows, I think we'll all know.”

In response to a follow-up question about whether he'd accept the job if offered, Gruden said there's “a good chance.”

Only time will tell if Gruden ultimately returns to the sideline for the silver and black as they still have to abide by the Rooney Rule and have yet to interview any other candidates to replace the recently fired Jack Del Rio.

If or when Gruden does return, the Raiders may have found that elusive piece to become the title contender many thought they would be during the 2017 campaign. Gruden could bring stability and balance to a franchise in desperate need to get back on track with stars Derek Carr and Khalil Mack leading the way.

In the event the Raiders can't work out a deal with Gruden, there's no telling what the team will do in their search for Del Rio's successor. It seems to be Gruden or bust at this point with no talk of a backup plan having surfaced as of yet.
